About us

R&B Motors was started in 1974 by Geoff Brown, who built it up from 1 man with 1 work bay to what it is today a company based on honesty and trust and at the forefront of technology. In 1982, he moved the business to its current location of St Georges Hall on St Georges Road, Fallowfield, where the business continued to grow.

His son Mark has worked at the St Georges Road site for the last 24 years, starting at just 8 years old, where he began cleaning the workshop and making brews for the staff to earn pocket money at weekends. Mark went on to study Product Design Engineering and Innovation at Sheffield Hallam University while still returning every weekend to work. Once he returned, he quickly qualified as a fully trained vehicle technician under the critical eye of both his father and the other technicians to ensure the standards that the company had set for its workmanship were maintained.

In 2009, Mark took over the business. He continues to enforce the exceptionally high standards of work that he was taught and ensure that today's customers receive excellent value for money.

In 2006, we opened our first specialist department, VAGmanchester. With dealer level diagnostic systems and fully trained diagnostic technicians, we were able to offer customers the same service for their vehicles as the franchised dealers. However, because we operated out of our original premises, we could do this at a fraction of the price.

In 2010, we opened our second specialist department for Mercedes Benz (MBmanchester), which has grown to already be acknowledged by Mercedes Benz as a “Star Partner”.

Although our main area of expertise is in our specialist departments, we still boast the best aftermarket diagnostic equipment in the area, covering all other makes, and have access to the most vehicle databases, which means that we can service, MOT and repair all makes of vehicle to an exceptional standard!
